 The Wii Turns Three
« Thread Started on Nov 5, 2009, 11:27am »

It's amazing to believe that the Wii is already three years old. We've gotten to OS 4.2, and even gotten an official Black Wii in Europe. What were some of your favorite moments and releases from this time span?

I still remember the day I got my Wii. I woke up at around 2 AM in mid December 2006 and me and my dad drove to our nearest Gamestop. Sadly, they already had more people in line than there were Wiis. We were ready to go to Nintendo World when we drove by a Target and saw people in line, we asked what the line was for, Wiis, and got in. We were number 12 of the 15 Wiis being sold.

I also remember getting "Bowler Shoulder" from Bowling so much ;)

Three years? All the more the Gamecube has been dead. But I admit, the Wii does to have seem good for most people.
I myself don't have one.
Why don't they let systems role on longer than 4-7 years? The Atari 2600 went 14 years before finally being discontinued! The PS2 is on its way to break that record!

Man, the early days of Wii Sports sure were awesome.

I still remember first 'trying' to play the Wii and my sister and I spent about 2 hours trying to select something. Then we realised we had to point at the screen. xD Epic fail.

I've seen other people do that. I remember reading about how it can be a pain to feel the remote vibrate as you pass the buttons, so I knew you had to point.

I wanted a Wii so bad there wasn't one within 50 miles of where I live or something so I found one website I can't remember where that was selling Wii combo packs. The combo pack was priced at $400 and had:
-1 Wii
-2 Wii Remotes
-2 Nunchuks
-Wii Sports
-Wii Play
-1GB SD Card with Wii on it

I ordered that around Thanksgiving 2007. One day I hurt my wrist in gym class (no sprain or broken bones) and when I got home, there it was! My Wii! I guess wierd stuff happening to me means some sort of sign. ;D

Months later I bought Super Paper Mario.

But if you hurt your wrist, couldn't you not play it? And that is a nice combo pack (technically it has three remotes right?)

Twilight Princess. I bought it before I bought the console itself. Incredible.

You think bowler shoulder stopped us? Hell no (well... it did to my mom). Heck, cooking didn't even stop my grandma from coming to bowl! She bowls with a hand on her hip too though...

That was a great moment, she was doing the Power Throw practice. About halfway through she blurted "Are there more pins?" It was hysterical... but I guess it would help if you were there.

That reminds me, my dad and I got my 80-something-year-old grandfather to play Wii Sports and he really got in to it! It was funny. :P

Connecticut had a statewide senior center Wii Bowling Tournament. I think Enfield won...

There is a rest home that has outpatient physical therapy attached to it, and they use Wii Sports/Wii Fit to get people moving again. Many people enjoy Soccer Heading in Wii Fit.

I still remember sitting at Wal*Mart for a few hours, waiting on the launch.

Then waiting another month for Christmas so I could actually play it. Probably will be the only time I get a launch date console in my life like this, so it's always going to stick out in my mind.
