"Yeah, he can sure sleep..." Saito said, trying to sound interested, but he really wasn't He didn't care what the stranger had to say, he looked weird enough already. But he was patient, and using his manners his mother had taught him.
He started eating some of the fish until one of Issun's questions caught him blindsided. Asking him...if he wants to talk? What is he, a physiologist? Saito didn't really want to give away any personal information, so he just shook his head tacitly as a response.
"Alright, that's fine. I understand not wanting to talk"
"You see, I don't know who my true family is. All I remember was walking in on this couple and they took me and raised me. They both died after an attack on our village... I was away at the time. Ever since then I've devoted myself to killing evil and protecting villages and people"
Zen opened one eye. *yawns* "Really? I'm just wandering around because I have nothing better to do. Fighting evil might be better than wandering around, like I'm doing. Though I haven't found much evil to fight out here in the middle of nowhere."
"Well, if you all want to evil... I had a vision last night, from the war gods. You see, I guess there is trouble ahead for all of us, in the form of an uncontrollable demon. The only way it can be stopped is by 'the group of three in which its members have fallen upon each other by chance.' Sounds kinda scary to me..."
Sounds like a load of crap to me... Saito thought to himself. That comment by Issun, seem way too forced, almost as if he was trying to tell us he might be a bad guy. Or maybe this guy is just a bit dim-witted. Either one, he just didn't like his vibe. Though, what else would Saito end up doing in the woods? And he could trust himself with his spear if anything like a betrayal by him should happen. So be it he's leading us into a trap, one less bad person from the world.
Saito was all caught up in the whole bad guy notion he had forgot he had given him food, so he might as well be graceful and follow for now. For now. Saito then tilted his head slightly to make it seem like he was interested in what Issun was saying.
"I really haven't figured that out yet... all I know is that there is something out there, but I just don't know it yet. I'm thinking it may be some kind of ambush, but again, I'm not sure. It may be some bizarre creature, but who knows."
"Well then, it looks like it's the boy who cried wolf. Shall we proceed to the prophecy of three?"
Saito chuckled to himself about tagging it as the name of it, and making it rhyme on the spot. He even laughed a little bit more just for thinking how cool he was. Man, he should really stop getting so conceited he thought. He picked up his spear and went off first, leaving Issun and, whoever the other guy was...he can't even remember the guy's name anymore. He really should work on his people skills.
And people skills require saving people right now, so he didn't bother. After dashing through the woods, he came across an open spot, and his shirt was ripped from some thorns on the way. Maybe he should've looked for a path first, but who cared anyways? There stood a little boy and a girl, the girl seemed dead, but the boy was groaning on and on, blood spilled all over the grass. Saito ran up to the boy, and dropped his spear, and propped his head up upon his head. He looked at him with cerulean blue eyes, and coughed out blood, looking pale.
"The monsters...they were all...monsters...beasts of the blackness...The oracle was...right."
And with that, he closed his eyes, and lulled into the deep sleep of death. Saito had just stood there looking at him, sad for a boy so young losing his life, he seemed about only 7. Saito then began to worry, what was this danger Issun and this boy are talking about, and could they be related somehow? He thought maybe it was just thieves that blindfolded them, but no human being would be able to do the sights that Saito had just seen. He looked back and called Issun.
"Issun! Get over here!"
He had hoped the other guy would follow, he still couldn't remember his name.
Issun heard the shouts from Saito and grabbed Zen by the arm, thus waking him up again. They both ran to Saito and saw the sight.
"I....I........................... wow. I don't know what to say, I mean sure I was right about the danger, but these poor kids. They were probably just going for a walk, and then this happens! What an outrage. We'd better keep our eyes open from now on, and we will go together so we can fend for eachother."
*Shakes Zen to wake him up again*
"Let's take a look at these guys here"
Issun began to examine them. He noticed that part of the boys skin was becoming a gray color while the girl's seared to a crisp. There were deep gashes in their heads.
"This must have been the work of some clawed beast that can both freeze and burn"

Saito was all jotting what Issun was saying in his head. That's until the little hamster operating his brain stopped...at the mention of freezing and burning. He just scratched his head at the notion of such a thing. It surely wouldn't be possible, since he would freeze the fire and burn the ice. But what did he care about this fancy mumbo jumbo stuff. They were monsters, and they needed to be eliminated. How hard is that?
He soon discovered some strange paw prints going into the dense woods. He examinied them, and it looker neither like a tiger or lion. It looked like it had webbed feet, longer toes, and bigger feet. Saito had never seen anything like it. He didn't want to point it out to Issun though, because he'll probably be smart again and just talk for another 10 minutes just like he did about the monsters.
Saito pointed to where the footprints leaded, "Shall we move on?"
(are you saying mine was contradicting of itself? Maybe it has three heads... who knows. lol)
"Sure, I guess" Issun said rather hesitantly...
"I wish that I could have asked them about it, but I guess it will never happen"
He really wished he could, but there was no way now so he just followed Saito. On the way he noticed the foot prints, but he figured that he shouldn't say anything about it. 'I mean, Saito just wanted to move, and it seemed he was going this way also. Still, I can't help but noticing how these foot prints just seem familiar, I don't know how... but what if it is some weird combo of creatures...' He grabbed Zen as he was falling behind again.
Zen, through all this time, was having a vision. At first he thought that said vision was induced by too much interaction with other humans, but that line of thinking fell into the depths of a mental abyss. His mind was in two places. In the vision, and trying to keep him away from the beast. The vision was so strong it seemed to possess him... The sky was blacker than night. The stars falling. The seas turned to fire. The forest turned to desert. And every man became a unicorn. From that, you could say that he had a nightmare. Until the second part. Then three shadowy figured held up a fragment of glass, and the world refracted back into normality. Then he woke up and the other side of his brain told him the staus report. "Guys, if we get out of this, I might say a few things that could make you think I'm crazy."
"Well, we have no way of knowing until we get there sleepy head!"
Issun was confused, the more he thought about the beast, the more he thought about what powers it may have. It had an ear-piercing roar, huge feet, and can cause burns, freeze, and has sharp claws or teeth. What could be worse is that maybe it didn't freeze, maybe it turned things into stone or something else grey and non-functioning. Maybe they should turn back...
"I'm so confused guys, I mean, what if this is too much for us? Maybe we should go back, but then again... what if we are the only people who can stop it? I mean... hey, is it me or is there something shiny near that tree?"
((Boy, this has been a long time. Time to wipe off some dust off my RP skills.))
Zen had finally woken up, and Issun was scanning the situation. He then proceeded to say how we might not be up to the task of defeating these guys. Since when did we become 'we'? It was just 'me' to Saito, I mean , he just met these guys. More blah blah, coming out of both of their mouths. He thought about just leaving these two 'philosophers' and journeying off alone, like he was supposed to. That's when he saw it.
Saito walked over to a tree that had caught his eye. There was something shining down below it, and he had proceeded to pick it up. It seemed very old and ancient, and he hadn't seen anything like it. It burnt his palms while he held it, but he endured the pain. He looked even more closely at the scripture and learned that it said this: "Three, a faint hope in the land. Darkness spreads, burning hands. Only with the K.W."
Saito had scratched his head on this one. He just really couldn't believe it. Either someone was just having a fun cruel joke with Saito, or all this mumbo jumbo prophecy, would be true mumbo jumbo. He then remembered his father's spear in which he possessed, that gained a strange glow in the moonlight. The spear was engraved with his father's initials, K.W. Maybe that was the secret to defeating them, but he would never know until then. For now, he just shook his head, and acted like the rock was nothing. He threw back on the ground and moved on, trying to just ignore it. "It's a dud, just a shiny rock."
But he couldn't, so when Issun and Zen were looking away, he snatched it and put it in his pocket. It was unnoticeable almost, since his pocket was baggy. "Let's move on, who knows what else is out there, eh?"

Issun was getting rather suspicious of Saito. Of course, it could have been just a shiny rock, but there was Zen's vision of the three shards. Plus, there was the fact that Saito had always been evading questions about him.
He walked up to Saito, "You know, I have a right mind to be suspicious of you and your actions" he said, "but I know better, and I think you don't know who you are messing with. I'm still going to let you go because I think that there is some kind of connection between us all, and I'm not going to be the one to break it. Besides, you're the one glowing spear. Maybe something will come out of it."
He walked back to Zen. Maybe he had been too harsh... he worried that being confrontational would offend Saito, and him being as unpredictable as he is, could just up and run away.
((I know, I felt that it was time for this to get back on its feet again"
